Would life on Mars mean there is no God?

Wow - it's been a month since I've last posted anything. Where have I been?

Anyway, I was reading this story (click above) about the ongoing search for life on Mars, and I got to thinking - if life on Mars in some form once existed, but couldn't get off the ground (as it were), would that mean there is no God?

For starters, God is infallible - yet His attempt to spark life on Mars failed. If God's only role is to direct the evolution of higher order, then He still hasn't "created" anything - He's merely retooled an existing product. Because God knows all (since He exists in all times simultaneously), why would He bother with something He knew wouldn't work?

I have not seen this issue raised anywhere yet - nobody seems to consider the ramifications of finding life elsewhere in the solar system. Personally, I'd like to see the "intelligent design" crowd explain that one.

Yeah -- how about stuff like Dinosaurs? Did that whole thing simply not work out for The Lard?

my dad actually has a DVD of a meeting with all these scientists, physicists and theologists discussing this very topic.

i cant remember what its called tho. but it has been talked about. i guess the big hang up is that christians thing jesus died for humans only. my thought was why cant there be other jesus's on other planets to be thier saviors. why can God almighty have only one kid? oh wait if he had kids on other planets he'd be a cheating son of a bitch.. crap maybe God is mormon.

anyhoo, im actually athiest for the most part. Maybe the martians got outta dodge just in time to send thier DNA to Earth to mix with the advanced apes and stuff. they are the missing link.

we are half martian and half ape.

God didn't "Have" kids. Jesus was God in the flesh. You sound like a genius.
